Welcome back to another studio news & this week we're doing a roundup of our experience exhibiting at New Designers last month!
For those who don't know Rachael is the Co-founder of Make it in Design, an online design school which is a one-stop shop for all things surface pattern design. Together with the MIID team we exhibited for 3 days (plus 2 days for set up & take down), & Rachael got involved with The Design Trust's start up day where she delivered a talk & was honoured to be part of a Q&A session with renowned designer Ella Doran (& one of our design idols!)
It was a busy few days but we were so happy to have met & chatted to so many new people as well as many of our students who have done the MIID courses. It was exciting to hear when people had heard of us but also equally exciting to get to spread the word & grow our amazing community even more!
The set up was fun! The team had planned the layout well in advance & we had some amazing banners printed & decorated the stand with fun paper balls & lovely student work.
The stand turned out fun & colourful - exactly what we wanted! We gave out eye-catching orange goody bags which you could see being toted around all over the show.
Rachael delivered a talk on the '20 things you need to know about becoming a successful surface pattern designer'. The room was packed with only floor seating left!
Rachael also got to meet one of her design heroes, Ella Doran (below in the green dress) after doing a Q&A with her on their experiences of being successful designers. She was such an interesting & lovely lady to talk to & we loved hearing more about her.
As well as meeting lots of new people we also got to chat with lots of Make it in Design students & Alumni! It's always so much fun when we get to meet people in person.
We had really busy days at the show so we didn't get chance to do much exploring but on our way to/from trains & getting food we spotted some gorgeous design & colour inspiration!
