Designer Feature – Amy Blackwell!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to the Rachael Taylor blog! We hope you’ve all had a fantastic week so far.

If you follow the Rachael Taylor Studio Instagram, you’ll know how much we love to share inspiration. But as much as we love sharing, we also enjoy browsing IG to get inspired ourselves!

This week, we were looking for some inspirational pattern design & by searching on #patternlove, we were thrilled when we came across the absolutely gorgeous design work of UK based designer Amy Blackwell. Amy’s Instagram features a wonderful collection of illustration, pattern & beautiful handmade jewellery, all in breathtaking & vibrant colour palettes. We love how her signature & unique style shines through in each piece!

There’s no doubt that Amy’s work is inspiring others, but we wondered – what inspires her? To find out, we took a peek on her website & shop where Amy shares on what gets her designing: ” I am inspired by the weird and wonderful, clashing colours, the natural world, history, fashion & folklore.” On her shop / design collective site audreyandillya.com, Amy also said, “I’m a big fan of mixing up bright, bold and contemporary patterns with more traditional examples of portraiture.” This certainly shines through in her work – her beautifully painted portraits & playful patterns feature some lovely organic motifs & colours that we absolutely love!

Below we’ve collated some of our favourite examples of Amy’s work, including a fantastic self portrait (as shared on her Instagram). If you’d love to take a further look at her designs, be sure to give her a follow or check out her website or shop!
