#MarchMeetTheMaker

This month I’ve been excited to be taking part in #MarchMeetTheMaker, sharing stories about my creative career, behind the scenes of my studio & my creative process. You can find all of my posts over on Instagram!

Here is my first post for ‘Story’:

*STORY* #marchmeetthemaker I’m Rachael & I’m most known as a Print & Pattern Designer. I have designed for almost every product area in the marketplace from interiors through to fashion (wearing my own ‘Havana Pop’ shirt design, available here).

I’m based in the UK but most of my clients are worldwide & my job is literally powered by WiFI.

*I’m also known for my work through global online design school @makeitindesign as I’m one of the Co-founders & you will see me pop up as the lead instructor in many of our courses. I’m lucky enough to work alongside a number of industry experts & to date I’ve taught over 15K online with creatives spanning across a 100 countries. My team across both businesses are truly wonderful & I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

*In recent years my work as a creative writer & stylist has progressed & you’ll often find my words, designs, imagery (& sometimes my face) in the press & media.

*Having worked globally for pretty much most of my designer career travel has always been part of my life whether that be meetings with clients, show exhibits, or delivering seminars.

*Lately I’ve allowed myself more creative freedom & my travels have been a magical catalyst for many things. I also seem to be attracting travel related content creation work from blog posts, visual inspo, social media posts, styling & (taking part in) photoshoots.

*These days I kinda favour the title #creativepreneur because my role involves many things & the bits you don’t see is the ongoing management, promotion, admin & the blood, sweat & tears that naturally go with being a business owner of 2 companies. It’s not always as glam as it looks but I truly love my job & I’m so grateful.

P.S. I took Art & Design Technology g.c.s.e’s, Art A’ Level, A BTEC Art Foundation & my BA (Hons) degree was in Textile & Fashion Design. Before securing my 1st paid design role I completed many (un paid) work placements. I have been working professionally in the design industry for 15yrs now.

I also come from an acting & dance background.
