Sustainable Fashion Photoshoot in Cuba!

SO EXCITED to share this post! There’s all sorts of reasons why my head is exploding & my heart is bursting with happiness. I’ll try & explain! So the images you see champion #sustainstablefashion they also celebrate my love of creating fun, unisex & multicultural designs. I want my prints & patterns to have wide appeal. There is no set market, my designs welcome everyone & the purpose for my @rachaeltstudio brand is always to create #patternstomakeyouhappy

Not only did I get to create the fabric prints ‘Abstract Burst’, ‘Havana Retro’ & ‘Fanciful Foxtail’ I also got to create a number of the original motifs whilst on a work trip in Havana. It has been just over a year since I first set foot in Cuba & 3 trips later it has rapidly influenced my designs. My mojo is back at 10000% & I have such a drive to explore & push my creative boundaries.

I was able to collaborate with my friend & talented designer @simionhawtinsmith (@relovedupholsteryanddesign) on the jacket creation! His genius idea! I also printed my fabrics through my faves @fashionformulauk & worked with the lovely @doc__cotton to create the retro shirt also featured. Then I was able to hire my brilliant Cuban photography & styling squad once again @davisillodiaz & @_carolinatejero are just beyond amazing & they just get my creative vision. I also had the the gorgeous @_carolinatejero become a face for my brand as she’s a professional model too & the uber cool model & fashion writer @migue_leyvaj starring in my images.

I’ve had so much support from the UK government with the work that I’ve been doing overseas & there’s so much more in store yet. Watch this space!

Behind the scenes I have worked my arse off co-ordinating everything from dragging giant overweight suitcases from Liverpool to London & then Cuba, to taking Spanish lessons to try & make things easier! Shout out to Caro (the stylist & model) for being the number 1 translator! So when I received these photos I had a big happy cry as at times I doubted myself but it felt amazing to see the hard work pay off. I have trusted my gut instinct so much this past year, worked as hard as I can & the universe kept sending signs & opportunities steering me in a new direction!
