Blogs We Love – DIY Projects, Big & Small!

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to another post in the Blogs We Love series! We hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend & are feeling refreshed & ready for some more creative inspiration!

On the RT blog we love to provide you with heaps of artsy inspo, especially through super fun DIY ideas. The best thing about DIY projects is that they can be however simple or elaborate as you’d like, as you can customise the scale of your project to suit your creative & artistic abilities. The variation among the types of DIY projects are fabulous too – some focus on food or fashion, while others are all about getting your hands dirty with tools or working in the garden. Really, there are so many wonderful ideas that fall under the DIY category & that’s why we love sharing them so much!

While there are many amazing blogs out there to find DIY inspo, today we’ve narrowed down alist of our top three favourites. Each blog has a unique set of projects & offers a wide range suitable for both the experienced, super creative folk & the novice crafters just getting into DIY projects.

The Design Confidential blog is a wonderful resource for those wanting to take on bigger DIY projects like home renovations or landscaping. Established by a talented artist & builder named Rayan Turner, TDC is an extremely useful, thorough source full of helpful links to building plans, tool buying (& using) guides, shopping resources & more! Rayan’s goal is to help her readers through the entire DIY process & to feel inspired through each step of the way. Even if you aren’t looking to do a major project, Rayan has made sure to include plenty of smaller, ‘finishing-touch’ DIY ideas too!

Here’s a little more about Rayan & her background in DIY that lead her to establish The Design Confidential – she truly is an inspiration & we love what she’s doing with her talent & passion for design & building:

I’m a stylist, creative director, maker, accidental photographer, occasional furniture builder & a dreamer. I’m a lover of all things both vintage & modern, but utterly obsessed with handmade. I am a trained draftsman…& the process of design – build is what I live for!

So for those of you looking to get really yourself in a big summer DIY project, be sure to check out TDC blog for plenty of inspirational ideas, helpful tips & tons of fab resources!

Paper & Stitch is a wonderful DIY blog for lovers of all things colourful & quirky across food, fashion, interiors & activities! Featuring lots of simple & straightforward tutorials, P&S is a great resource if you’re looking for quick weekend / daytime projects or ideas to do with friends & family. P&S was created in 2008 by the super creative & talented Brittni Mehlhoff as a way to document her ideas & share them with the world. Brittni has built up a truly inspiring collection of gorgeously catalogued DIY ideas that we absolutely love. We love that her tutorials are simple but packed with creativity & achievable for both expert & novice hobbyists alike!

Commenting on her own style & her blogging success, Brittni says,

[I would describe my style as] organic modern with a little bit of mid-century. I also really like pretty much everything I post about in the interiors section… [Paper & Stitch started as] a catalog for my inspirations & now it’s my full time job. I write about DIY, home decor, fashion, small business, & more.

Paper & Stitch has gained a solid following & we are so pleased that Brittni has done so well! If you decide to take on any of her DIY projects or tutorials, be sure to share on social media & use the #paperandstitch hashtag! Here are a couple of fun snaps from the P&S blog to get you inspired!
