Interiors Roundup – Brilliant Bunting!

Happy Thursday Everybody!

Carrying on with our previous Interiors Roundup posts, today we want to explore the wonderful world of bunting! You’ve seen it everywhere – weddings, birthday parties, home & garden magazines – bunting has become a decor staple in British celebrations. Today we’re going to explore why it’s such a popular decoration, & how you can use it to liven up your own space.

The shabby-chic decoration we know as bunting has been around for a long time, & still is amongst some of the most popular decoration choices for a huge variety of celebrations. Usually made with coloured and patterned fabric & string, it’s versatility as a textile & its simplicity in cost & crafting makes bunting a super fun, pretty way to bring life to any space.

Not sure how to use your bunting? We’ve got some great decor inspiration here to help you visualise how to apply these cute & fun decorations in your home or garden. We’ve collated some images from the fabulous House and Home magazine to get your creative ideas flowing:

These beautiful photos prove a couple of things about bunting: it looks good almost everywhere, & can come in an exciting combination of shapes, colours, textures, and patterns. Don’t feel limited to the classic triangle shape – get creative with it! Since we at Rachael Taylor we believe in being as creative as you can be, we are introdcuing a challenge with this Interiors Roundup: make your own bunting!

You can make it from twine & coloured paper, or fabric & ribbon if you’re comfortable with a sewing machine/needle and thread. This  House to Home article gives some great, simple instructions on how to get started. If you aren’t the crafting type, no worries – we’ve got some great design friends like Daisies Blue and Studio Seed who make beautiful pre-made (& personalised) bunting that you can pick & choose from!
