Baby Adventures – Maternity Fashion

I’m pleased to share the fourth post of my regular weekly ‘Baby Adventures’ column! For those of you that follow the blog & my social media you will have read about my exciting baby news. Where do I begin… there has been so much to organise & lots of lovely things to plan. I’m looking forward to slowing my work down a little & really enjoy the adventure that’s ahead of me. Each Monday I’ll be sharing my design finds, inspiration & life behind the scenes with my baby bump. I’m pleased to announce that I’m actually on maternity leave!

Please don’t worry (or go anywhere…) as the design studio/shop is still up & running & looked after by my fabulous assistant Kelly!

Today I wanted to discuss maternity fashion, has anyone else struggled? My bump took a while to properly show & being quite naturally petite also made it a challenge. I found a lot of the clothing to sit a little odd & felt like it made me look frumpy… I’m pregnant & wanted to be comfortable but equally still wanted to dress fashionably, it was a little stressful finding outfits at times (& hard saying a short goodbye & packing up some of existing smaller sized pieces)! During the early stages of my pregnancy I just wore a lot of stretchy clothing & loose chiffon shirts & right up until about seven months I still managed to fit into my normal sized maxi dresses. After my eight month growth spurt I decided it was time to invest in some key pieces & pretty dresses for the sunny weather. Luckily I recently came across the wide selection available at New Look & managed to pick up some really beautiful maxi dresses. I don’t normally shop in New Look but I really have found them to be a blessing & would highly recommend checking out their newest maternity collections.

Until next week…Rachael x

(Ps I’m now 36.5 weeks, madness!)
